Floods bring chaos

TWO people - including a boy of 13 - have died in Sheffield as we were hit by the worst flooding seen in years. Parts of Sheffield city centre are underwater and the Environment Agency has issued severe Flood Warnings in Rotherham, Kilnhurst, Brampton and Chesterfield as the Rivers Don and Rother have swelled to within inches of bursting.

I think I will be swimming into work today!!...yesterday I was furious bcos of the severe weather conditions. The city had gone into complete chaos! No trains/trams, power loss, traffic jams, severe flooding, the whole city had come to an halt. it was like a scene from a movie (is this the start of the impacts from global warming do U think? - it does make me think this). Why why is this freaky condition happening in June????

I was meant to meet up with Richard and Co after work yesterday but his belated birthday gathering had been cancelled. Initially it was supposed to be dinner at No1 (the buffet place) but then changed to TGI Fridays, but bcos the Meadowhall area was hit by flooding and traffic jams, the whole gathering thing was cancelled (hope Richard wasn't too gutted, but we'll meet on the 8th!:). I didn't leave work till 6.45pm and ended up having a Nandos with Candy, I might as well as I would had only been stuck in traffic if I'd gone home...Candy is completely hooked on their chicken wings (U and Suz should have a contest and see who can eat the most chicken).

Well, it wasn't until 9pm till I attempted going home. I hope people who had trouble going home/abandoned/stranded/homeless are feeling slightly better today...post me in your flooding experiences!!! (what happened to you? how did U manage to go home? did U get home!?) share your stories with me and others.
